Module 0: Start Here
Before you design anything, get oriented. This short module shows you what you’ll build, how the course works, and what you’ll walk away with — so every decision after this one is deliberate, not decorative.

What you’ll build in this course
By the end of this course you will have built a complete brand by hand: a sharp positioning, a visual identity you made yourself, a distinctive voice, and a consistent set of assets across every place customers meet you. Six modules move from what a brand actually is (hint: not your logo), through strategy and positioning, into DIY visual identity, voice and messaging, the assets that carry the brand into the world, and finally launch and legal protection.
This is a building course, not a theory course. You’ll write a positioning statement, choose colors and fonts with reasons behind each choice, draft your voice guidelines, and assemble the actual files — logo variations, templates, bios — that make a brand real. Expect about four hours of focused work, plus the design tinkering you’ll inevitably do between modules.

How to use this course
Each module has three short lessons. Read a lesson, mark it complete for +10 XP, and answer the quiz that follows for +40 XP. The quizzes check that the core idea landed — they’re not trick questions. Scattered through the modules are build brief prompts: questions about your business, your customers, and how you want to be perceived, whose answers collect into one document.
That document is the point. Answer the prompts as you go and they assemble into your build brief — your positioning, your visual direction, your voice, all in your own words. Finish all six modules and you unlock the final exam: ten questions, and a completion badge worth +100 XP when you pass.
Your build brief and what you’ll have at the end
The build brief is where this course pays for itself. Every module asks you 2–3 questions — who you serve, what you want to be known for, the three words you’d never use — and your answers save automatically. When you’re done, download the brief as a designed PDF: your complete brand foundation, ready to hand to a designer, a developer, or us.
Here’s our promise, printed on the last page of that PDF: if you’d rather have the identity designed for you than DIY it, hand us the brief and we treat it as the starting brief. No starting over, no explaining twice. Our done-for-you brand identity is $3,500 — but whether you DIY or hand it off, you’ll finish knowing exactly what makes a brand work and why most of them don’t.
