Module 3: Search Console Gold
Google Search Console tells you exactly what people typed before they found you — and what they typed when they didn't click. This module turns those queries into your content plan with the Content Goldmine workflow.

Your queries are a to-do list
Open Search Console > Performance. Four numbers at the top: total clicks, total impressions, average CTR, average position. Below, the Queries tab lists every search term that showed your site, with clicks, impressions, CTR, and position for each. Sort by impressions, descending. This list is market research Google did for you, for free: real demand, real wording, real volume.
Now filter for the gold: queries where your average position is between 4 and 15 and impressions are over 100. Page one, but not top three — close enough to win, far enough that small improvements move the needle. A query at position 8 with 2,000 impressions is worth more than a query at position 2 with 50 impressions. Position 4–15 with 100+ impressions is the entire game — everything else is either already won or not worth the fight yet.

Open Search Console > Performance > Queries. Sort by impressions. What are your top 5 queries by impressions — and what position does each one average?

CTR surgery
Clicks are what you actually get; impressions are what you could get. The gap between them is click-through rate — and CTR is the cheapest win in search, because you don't need to rank higher, you just need more of the people already seeing you to click. In the Performance report, find pages with high impressions and low CTR: the Pages tab, sorted by impressions, with CTR under 2 percent is your surgery list.
Click a page, then switch to the Queries tab to see exactly which queries show it. Now rewrite the title tag and meta description for that page around the winning query: put the query's core words near the front of the title, add a specific benefit or number, and keep it under 60 characters so it doesn't truncate. A title like Services becomes Book a Certified Home Inspector in Austin — Same-Week Appointments. Same ranking, double the clicks.
Measure with date comparison: after the rewrite, compare the 28 days after to the 28 days before, filtered to that page. CTR up with position steady means the surgery worked.

The monthly Goldmine workflow
Once a month, run the full workflow. Step one: Performance > Queries, last 28 days, export. Step two: filter to position 4–15 and impressions over 100 — this is your opportunity list, usually 10 to 30 queries. Step three: for each query, click through to see which of your pages ranks for it. If a page exists, it goes on the optimize list (better title, deeper content, internal links pointing at it). If no page really answers it, it goes on the write list — a new article brief, built around the exact wording people typed.
Step four: check Indexing > Pages. Look at why pages aren't indexed — crawled but not indexed usually means thin content or no internal links pointing at it. Link to it from a relevant high-traffic page and give it a reason to exist. A page Google won't index is a page that can't rank, no matter how good the query data is.
The output of the workflow is a simple two-column list: optimize (existing page + the change) and write (new page + the target query). That list is your next 90 days of content, prioritized by real demand instead of guesses. Never brainstorm content ideas again — your audience already told you what they want, one query at a time.
Build brief
Run the Goldmine filter on your queries (position 4–15, 100+ impressions). List your top 5 opportunities and mark each: optimize an existing page, or write a new one?

A query averages position 6 with 3,000 impressions and a 1.1% CTR. The page already ranks page one. What is the highest-leverage move?
Your turn: Build your Goldmine list: your top 10 queries at position 4–15 with 100+ impressions. For each: the ranking page, and whether you'll optimize it or write something new.

THE GOLDMINE WORKFLOW
Monthly, 30 minutes:
1. Performance > Queries, last 28 days, export
2. Filter: position 4–15, impressions 100+ → opportunity list
3. For each: which page ranks? Exists → OPTIMIZE (title, depth, internal links). Missing → WRITE (new brief, exact query wording).
4. Indexing > Pages: fix 'crawled — currently not indexed' with internal links + real content
5. Output: two-column list — OPTIMIZE vs WRITE — your next 90 days of content
