Module 0: Start Here

Before you dive in — how this course works, what you'll build, and how to get the most out of every module.

What SEO Actually Is

SEO — search engine optimization — is the practice of making your website the obvious answer when someone searches for what you do. No ads, no tricks: you earn rankings by having the most relevant, trustworthy page for a given search. When it works, Google sends you a steady stream of visitors who were already looking for you.

This course teaches it the manual way: you'll learn how search works, find the exact words your customers type, fix your pages to match, create content worth ranking, handle the technical basics, and earn the links and reviews that build authority. Six modules, each building on the last.

How to Use This Course

Three lessons per module. Mark each complete for XP, take the quizzes, and work the build brief prompts — they'll have you researching your own keywords, auditing your own pages, and planning your own content. By the end you'll have a real SEO action plan for your site, saved as a PDF.

You'll need a website to practice on (even a new one), and free accounts for Google Search Console and Google Business Profile — the course walks you through both in the relevant modules. Do the exercises on your real site as you go; SEO learned in the abstract doesn't stick.

Setting Expectations

Honest timeline: expect 3–6 months before significant traffic changes from your work. Google needs time to crawl, evaluate, and trust your pages. Anyone promising page-one rankings in 30 days is selling something.

What you can expect quickly: finding keywords your competitors missed (Module 2), fixing the on-page issues hurting you right now (Module 3), and getting your business showing up in local results (Module 6). Those wins come in weeks. The compounding traffic comes later — and that's the part worth waiting for.
