- Content pillar
- A recurring theme for your posts (e.g., tips, behind-the-scenes, customer stories). 3–4 pillars keep content varied but focused.
- Reach
- How many unique people saw your post. The top of the funnel — necessary but not sufficient.
- Engagement rate
- Likes, comments, shares, and saves divided by reach. The quality signal platforms actually reward.
- Algorithm
- The system deciding who sees your posts. It rewards content people interact with — not posting frequency alone.
- Hook
- The first line or first seconds of a post. If it doesn't stop the scroll, nothing else matters.
- Call to action (CTA)
- Telling the audience what to do next: comment, share, visit, buy. Every post needs one.
- UGC
- User-generated content — posts your customers make about you. The most trusted content format there is.
- Stories/Reels/Shorts
- Short-form vertical video and ephemeral formats. Currently the highest-reach formats on most platforms.
- Bio link
- The one clickable link in your profile. Your funnel's front door — point it somewhere that converts.
- Topic tags that help discovery. Useful in moderation; 3–5 relevant beats 30 generic.
- Shadowban
- Unofficial term for reduced reach, usually from spammy behavior. Fix: stop the behavior, post normally.
- Evidence others trust you — reviews, testimonials, follower counts, customer photos.
- DM
- Direct message. Where social selling actually happens — public posts start conversations, DMs close them.
- Content calendar
- Your posting plan: what goes where, when. The difference between a system and random posting.
- Vanity metrics
- Follower counts and likes that feel good but don't correlate with revenue. Watch them, don't chase them.
