Module 4: Block the Noise
Your five senses are feeding your state all day long. This module shows you how to audit what's coming in — taste, touch, smell, hearing, sight — and curate your inputs on purpose.

Your senses shape your state
You don't feel the way you feel by accident. Your state — your energy, your mood, your focus — is being shaped all day by what your senses absorb. What you taste (the third coffee, the skipped lunch), what you touch (the stiff chair, the phone in your palm), what you smell (stale air, fresh air), what you hear (the news on repeat, the argument next door), what you see (the cluttered desk, the gray wall). Whatever fills your senses fills your state — and most of it is happening on autopilot.
Here's a simple test. Notice how you feel right now, then look around the room. Listen for a second. Feel what's in your hand. The connection between your inputs and your state is direct and immediate — change the input, change the state. That's not a metaphor; it's how your nervous system works. The people who seem to have unshakeable focus aren't tougher than you. They've curated their inputs.
So the question isn't 'why can't I focus?' It's 'what am I absorbing all day?' The answer is usually: a lot of noise you never chose. This module is about choosing — on purpose, every week.

The Sensory Audit
Once a week — pick a day, Sunday works — run the audit. Five senses, five minutes each. Taste: what did I eat and drink this week, and how did it make me feel after? Touch: what did I physically interact with most — the phone, the chair, the steering wheel? Smell: what spaces did I spend time in? Hearing: what voices and sounds filled my hours — news, podcasts, gossip, silence? Sight: what did I look at — feeds, walls, faces, screens?
For each sense, mark every input as fuel or drain. Fuel: it gave you energy, calm, or focus. Drain: it cost you energy, calm, or focus. Be honest — the news you check 'to stay informed' might be pure drain. The podcast that makes you think might be fuel. The audit isn't about judging your taste. It's about seeing the trade you're making.

Build brief
Run a mini-audit now: for each of your five senses, name one input from this week that was fuel and one that was drain. Just list them — fuel | drain, five senses.

Curating your inputs
For every drain the audit finds, you have three options: reduce, replace, or remove. Reduce: the news goes from all day to fifteen minutes at lunch. Replace: the morning scroll becomes the morning walk — same time slot, different input. Remove: the account that makes you feel behind, the group chat that's all complaints, the show that leaves you wired at midnight. You don't need willpower against a drain. You need distance from it.
Then add fuel on purpose. This is the part people skip — they cut the bad and leave a vacuum, and the vacuum fills back up with noise. Put something in the space: the playlist that calms you, the walk route with the trees, the friend who leaves you lighter. Curation isn't just defense. It's design.
Start with the loudest drain. Not all of them — the loudest. One input, one week, one change. The audit runs weekly, so the system improves itself over time. In a month, your senses are feeding you instead of draining you — and your habits have a clean environment to grow in.
Distance, not willpower
Reduce, replace, or remove
| Option | Means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Reduce | Less of the drain | News: all day → 15 minutes at lunch |
| Replace | Same slot, different input | Morning scroll → morning walk |
| Remove | Distance, not willpower | The account, the group chat, the show |
Build brief
What's the single loudest drain in your inputs right now — the one input that costs you the most energy? Write it down, then pick your move: reduce, replace, or remove. Be specific about what changes this week.

Your audit shows the evening news leaves you wired and anxious, but you 'need to stay informed.' What does the course recommend?
Your turn: Draw the audit grid: 5 rows (taste, touch, smell, hearing, sight), 2 columns (fuel, drain). Fill it from this week. Circle the loudest drain — that's this week's project.
Saved.
Your next 24 hours
Unfollow, mute, or remove the single loudest drain you identified. Then add one fuel input in its place — a playlist, a walk, a person. One swap. That's the whole day.
