Glossary: Content That Converts
Every key term from the course, in plain English. When a lesson says a word you don't know, it lives here.
- The Publisher Mindset
- Operate like a media company that happens to sell something, not a seller that happens to publish. The audience comes first; the sale follows. Publishers serve readers — sellers pitch prospects — and only one of them gets trusted.
- The Question Bank
- Your running list of every real customer question, captured in the asker's exact words. Each entry is a content piece waiting to happen — and a buyer waiting to find it.
- The Trust Ladder
- The four rungs from stranger to advocate: stranger, reader, buyer, advocate. Every piece of content should move someone exactly one rung up — never skip, never double up.
- Interruption marketing
- Marketing that barges in: cold calls, pop-ups, autoplay ads. It rents attention by force — and buyers have spent years learning to tune it out.
- Evergreen content
- Content that stays useful for years: how-tos, definitions, frameworks. It compounds — found by search, shared by readers, working while you sleep.
- Information annuity
- A piece of content that keeps paying out attention and leads long after you publish it — like a dividend that never stops. Evergreen Bank answers are annuities; news and trends are not.
- Objection handling
- Answering the reasons people don't buy — in your content, before they ever talk to you. Every objection answered in public is friction removed from every future sale.
- Call to action (CTA)
- The one specific next step you ask the reader to take. Every piece needs exactly one — matched to the rung the reader is on. "Download the checklist" beats "learn more" every time.
- Lead magnet
- Something valuable you give away in exchange for an email address: a checklist, a template, a short guide. The bridge from reader to subscriber.
- Content pillar
- A big, definitive piece on a core topic that smaller pieces link back to. Pillars organize your library, rank well, and give new readers a place to start.
- Repurposing
- Turning one piece of content into many formats: a post becomes a video, a video becomes an email. Same cargo, different trucks — the principles travel, the format adapts.
- Evidence that others trust you: testimonials, numbers, case studies, reviews. Proof moves readers up the ladder faster than promises ever will.
- Nurture sequence
- A short series of emails that welcomes a new subscriber and walks them up the ladder — useful first, pitch last. The ladder's engine room.
- Bounce
- A visitor who reads and leaves with no next step taken. High bounce on a converting page means the CTA — or the rung — is wrong.
