LinkedIn Ads

LinkedIn has the most expensive clicks in advertising — and the most precise B2B targeting on earth. By the end of this course you’ll know exactly when those expensive clicks are worth it, how to aim them at the right job titles, and how to run campaigns that pay for themselves.

Ten dollars a click. That’s the number that scares everyone off LinkedIn Ads — and it’s exactly why the platform works for the businesses that do the math. In six modules you’ll learn the B2B Math Test, the Precision Stack for sniper targeting, every ad format worth using, creative that converts decision-makers, and the Retargeting Net that catches everyone who got away. Expensive clicks. Precise aim. Real returns.

What you’ll learn

  • Run the B2B Math Test — know before spending a dollar whether LinkedIn’s click prices work for your deal size
  • Build sniper-accurate audiences with the Precision Stack: titles, companies, and industries layered together
  • Pick the right ad format for every goal — sponsored content, message ads, video, and lead gen forms
  • Optimize and scale: read campaign data, retarget with the Insight Tag, and grow winners without breaking them

Is this for me?

Who is this course for?

Anyone selling to businesses — consultants, agencies, SaaS founders, B2B service providers — who wants to reach decision-makers by job title instead of hoping the right people stumble across their content. If your customers have job titles and your deal size is four figures or more, this is your course.

What do I need before starting?

A LinkedIn account and a rough idea of who your ideal customer is (their job title, at minimum). You don’t need an ad account yet — Module 0 walks you through the setup. A monthly test budget of at least $300 keeps the exercises realistic.

How long does it take?

Six modules, about 30–45 minutes each. Most people finish in two weeks — then spend two more weeks running their first real test campaign with the budget framework from Module 4.

Choose your track

Not everyone needs the same path. Pick the one that fits where you are.

Explorer track

Modules 0–2: the math test, targeting, and formats. Run the B2B Math Test on your business first — if the numbers don’t work, you’ve saved yourself thousands. If they do, build one audience and one ad before touching budgets.

Builder track

All modules in order, one per week. Launch one test campaign in week three with the Module 4 budget framework, install the Insight Tag in week one so retargeting data is collecting from day one. Slow is smooth, smooth is profitable.

Operator track

All modules, then straight to Module 5’s optimization system: weekly data reviews, creative refresh every two weeks, retargeting nets on every page. This is the full media-buyer operating rhythm — run it for 90 days and you’ll know this channel cold.

Teardown: one weak ad, one strong ad

The weak ad: a stock photo of a handshake, headline “We help businesses grow,” body text “Our innovative solutions drive results for companies like yours. Click to learn more.” Targeting: United States, job function Marketing. This ad fails everywhere it can fail. The creative could be selling anything — insurance, software, consulting, office chairs. The headline names no one and promises nothing specific. “Companies like yours” is the tell: the advertiser doesn’t know who they’re talking to, so they’re talking to everyone. And the targeting matches the creative — “Marketing” as a job function includes interns, CMOs, freelancers, and students. At $8 a click, every one of those irrelevant clicks costs real money.

The strong ad: a simple screenshot of a dashboard showing “Cost per demo: $41,” headline “CFOs: your marketing team is hiding this number from you,” body text “We audited 47 B2B ad accounts last quarter. The average company wastes 38% of spend on clicks that were never going to convert. Here’s the 20-minute audit that finds yours.” Targeting: job title CFO or VP Finance, company size 51–200, industries Software and Financial Services. Every element does a job. The creative shows a real number — proof, not promise. The headline names the exact person and creates tension with their own team. The body gives two specific numbers (47 audits, 38% waste) that make the claim believable, then offers a concrete next step. The targeting is the Precision Stack in action: title plus company size plus industry, layered until the audience is a few thousand of exactly the right people.

Now run the B2B Math Test on both. The weak ad sells “growth” to everyone — no deal size, no math, no chance the $8 clicks pay back. The strong ad sells a $2,500 audit to CFOs: at a 5% landing-page conversion rate and a 20% close rate, each click is worth $25 in expected revenue against an $8 cost. That’s the whole game. The creative gets the click; the math makes the click worth buying.

What most people would get wrong: they’d try to fix the weak ad by tweaking the image or testing a new headline. The problem isn’t the ad — it’s that there’s no math underneath it. No defined buyer, no deal size, no conversion path. Module 0 exists so you never write an ad without the math first.

The lesson: on LinkedIn, precision beats creativity and math beats both. A mediocre ad aimed at exactly the right 3,000 people outperforms a brilliant ad aimed at 300,000 vaguely relevant ones — because at $8 a click, every wrong person who clicks is money you don’t get back.
