Module 3: Native Gives, Platform by Platform
The same give lands differently on every platform. A Native Give is a give shaped to fit the platform's format and culture — not a repurposed ad. Here's what giving looks like where your audience actually scrolls.

Short video: TikTok, Reels, Shorts
Short video is the highest-leverage give format right now, because the platforms will show your video to strangers — no existing audience required. The native give here is the quick, complete lesson: one tip, one fix, one transformation, delivered in 15–45 seconds with a strong opening line.
The format that works: hook in the first two seconds ("Stop doing this with your dishwasher"), the teaching in the middle, no pitch at the end. Film vertically, use captions (most people watch muted), and cut every dead second. A plumber's 25-second "why your drain keeps clogging" will outperform a polished brand video every time — because it gives.
Post 3–5 short gives per week to start. Consistency beats production value — a phone, good light, and a real tip are the entire equipment list.

Instagram and Facebook
On Instagram, the native give is the carousel: 5–10 swipeable slides that teach one thing completely. "5 mistakes killing your lawn" as a carousel gets saved at rates video can't touch, because people treat carousels like mini-guides. End with a save-worthy summary slide, not a sales pitch.
Stories are your connection give: polls, question boxes, behind-the-scenes clips, day-in-the-life sequences. They don't reach strangers well, but they turn followers into loyalists — post 2–4 story segments on the days you publish feed posts and watch replies climb. On Facebook, the equivalent is the group: a free community where you answer questions weekly builds a moat no ad can buy.
The pattern across both: feed posts for teaching and equipping (reach + saves), stories for connecting (loyalty). Run both, and the ledger fills from two directions.
X and LinkedIn: the text-first platforms
On X and LinkedIn, the currency is the written idea. The native give is the insight post: a sharp observation, a hard-won lesson, a contrarian take from real experience — in a few punchy lines or a short thread. "I repainted 400 houses. Here's what I learned about pricing" will travel further than any ad you could buy.
What works: specific numbers, real stories, strong opinions held honestly. What doesn't: generic advice ("consistency is key!"), corporate speak, or threads that are secretly sales letters. Write like you're explaining something to a smart friend over coffee — plain, direct, useful.
One strong text give per week beats seven forgettable ones. Quality is the whole game on text platforms.

YouTube: the long game
YouTube is the slowest platform and the most durable. Videos you post this year can still bring customers in three years, because YouTube is a search engine first and a social feed second. The native give here is the complete tutorial: "How to tile a backsplash start to finish," 8–15 minutes, genuinely useful.
The strategy: answer the exact questions people type into search. "How much does X cost," "X vs Y," "how to fix Z" — each is a video that works while you sleep. You don't need polish; you need completeness. A shaky phone video that fully answers the question beats a cinematic one that doesn't.
Start with one video every week or two. Ten solid tutorials form a library that quietly sells for you for years — the deepest ledger deposits you'll ever make.
