Viral Short-Form Video
Short videos on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts don't go viral by luck. By the end of this course you'll know exactly how feeds rank videos — and how to film and edit yours so people watch to the end, every time.

Three seconds. That's all the feed gives you before the thumb moves on. In six modules you'll learn how feeds pick winners, how to write hooks that stop the scroll, and how to edit for Retention Gravity — so your videos get watched to the end instead of swiped past. Stop posting into the void. Start engineering the watch.
What you’ll learn
- Write hooks that win the first three seconds with pattern interrupts
- Build a Payoff Arc into every short so viewers watch to the very end
- Cut retention edits that create Retention Gravity from the open to the loopback ending
- Pick share triggers that turn relatable ideas into repost rounds
Is this for me?
Who is this course for?
Anyone posting short video — or about to — who wants views to come from skill instead of luck. You don't need followers; most of the teardowns in here are from small accounts that figured out the mechanics.
What do I need before starting?
A phone that shoots video and a free editing app (the good ones are covered in Module 3). You should already be comfortable filming and cutting something simple — this course is about making videos win, not learning to press record.
How long does it take?
Six modules, about 30–45 minutes each of learning, plus filming practice. Most people work through it in two weeks while posting — and the posting is half the coursework.
Module 0
Module 0: Start here
What this course is, how to use it, and what you'll walk away with. Ten minutes now saves hours later.

Module 1
Module 1: How Feeds Pick Winners
Before you film anything, you need to understand the game you're playing. This module explains how short-form feeds decide which videos get pushed — and what that means for every video you make.

Module 2
Module 2: Hooks That Win the First Three Seconds
If the first three seconds don't land, nothing else in the video matters. This module teaches you to build openings that make scrolling feel like missing out.

Module 3
Module 3: Editing for Retention
The hook gets them in; the edit keeps them there. This module is about removing every dull second and keeping the video moving so fast that scrolling feels like work.

Module 4
Module 4: The Payoff Arc
Every video is a promise. This module teaches you to structure that promise so viewers feel pulled toward the ending — and rewarded when they get there.

Module 5
Module 5: Ideas People Relate To and Share
Retention gets you watched; relatability and shareability get you spread. This module is about choosing ideas that feel personal to thousands of strangers at once.

Module 6
Module 6: Formats, Cadence, and Doubling Down
One viral video is luck. A system that produces them is a skill. This final module turns everything you've learned into a repeatable weekly practice.
Choose your track
Not everyone needs the same path. Pick the one that fits where you are.
Starter track
Modules 0–2: feeds, hooks, editing. If your first three seconds and your cuts are right, you have 80% of virality. Then Module 5 (ideas) so you're making shareable things, and Module 6 for the cadence system. Save Module 4 (payoff arc) until your hooks are landing.
Advanced track
All modules in order, plus the teardown and the final exam. Advanced means running Module 6's system for 30 days: same formats, measured 48-hour checks, doubling down on what the data says. That's where the compound growth lives.

Teardown: a viral personal-finance short
The video: a creator in a parked car, 34 seconds, 2.1 million views. Text on screen: "Your bank is stealing from you (legally)." He holds up his phone showing a savings account at 0.01% interest, then flips to a high-yield account at 4.5%. "Same $10,000. One pays you $1 a year. The other pays $450. You're welcome." Cut. That's the whole video — and it's a clinic in Modules 1 through 5.
The hook (Module 2): "Your bank is stealing from you (legally)" does three jobs in eight words — stakes (your money), emotion (outrage), and a withheld detail (how is it legal?). The parenthetical is the masterstroke: it answers the objection "that can't be true" before the viewer can swipe. First three seconds, zero setup, pattern interrupt via the accusation.
The edit (Module 3): there isn't one, and that's the point. One continuous take, phone flip as the only "cut." Every dull second was removed by never filming it — the video is 34 seconds because the idea is 34 seconds long. The on-screen text carries the numbers so the audio can stay conversational; viewers watching muted still get the full argument.
The payoff arc (Module 4): promise ("stealing from you") → build (the 0.01% reveal) → payoff (the $450 comparison). The final "You're welcome" is a loopback ending — cocky, quotable, and it re-triggers the opening emotion on rewatch, which is why the loop count is high.
What most people would get wrong: they'd film a 3-minute explainer about APY, compound interest, and FDIC insurance — the "educate" instinct that kills retention. This creator understood Module 5's share trigger: identity ("I'm the kind of person who doesn't get ripped off") plus usefulness (a specific action: move your money). People shared it to look smart, not to teach banking.
The lesson: virality here isn't luck or production value. It's a hook with stakes, an edit with no fat, a payoff that lands, and an idea people share for identity reasons. Every one of those is a learnable mechanism — which is exactly what this course teaches.
