Zero ad budget isn't a disadvantage — it's a filter. It forces you into the channels that compound: local search, content, partnerships, email. In six modules you'll build a 90-day plan that costs time instead of money and often beats paid ads anyway.

What you'll learn

  • Adopt the zero-budget rules of the game — a different strategy, not a cheaper version of the expensive one.
  • Capture the highest-ROI free local visibility: show up where nearby buyers are already searching.
  • Borrow other people's audiences through partnerships and community instead of paying for reach.
  • Turn everything into a focused 90-day execution plan, built around email — the highest-ROI free channel.

Is this for me?

Who is this course for?

New businesses, side projects, and anyone who'd rather invest sweat than cash. If your budget is $0 and your calendar isn't, this is your course.

What do I need before starting?

Time — 3–5 hours a week — and a business or idea to market. That's it.

How long does it take?

Six modules at 30–45 minutes each. The 90-day plan in Module 6 is the real timeline — this is a quarter, not a weekend.

Teardown: the bakery doing everything (and nothing)

A neighborhood bakery makes exceptional croissants and has 800 Instagram followers. The owner posts sporadically — three posts one week, nothing for a month. There's no email list, no Google Business Profile, no partnerships with the coffee shop next door. When asked about marketing, the owner says "we can't afford ads" — as if ads were the only option.

What's working: The product is genuinely excellent — customers rave unprompted. There's a real visual asset (beautiful pastries photograph themselves). The location has foot traffic. The owner is likeable and present.

What's broken: The "can't afford ads" framing has paralyzed all marketing, including the free kind. The Google Business Profile doesn't exist — so "bakery near me" searches show competitors. The 800 Instagram followers get random posts with no rhythm, no calls to action, no story behind the product. No email capture at the counter — the highest-intent customers (people who just bought) leave with no way to be reached again. The coffee shop next door, which sends customers past the bakery daily, has never been approached about a cross-promotion. Everything is sporadic because nothing is scheduled.

The fix, in course order: Module 1 — reframe: the budget isn't the problem, the absence of a system is. Thirty minutes a day is the budget. Module 2 — claim and complete the Google Business Profile this week: photos, hours, menu link, and start asking happy customers for reviews (free, and "bakery near me" is pure intent). Module 3 — a sustainable rhythm: two posts a week, same days, showing the 5 AM bake (process content is free and magnetic). Module 4 — walk next door with a box of croissants and propose a swap: their coffee in your shop, your pastries in theirs, plus a joint "morning bundle." Module 5 — a simple email capture at the counter ("get a free croissant on your birthday") on a free plan; one email a week with the weekend specials. Module 6 — put it on a 90-day calendar. Total cost: $0 and 30 minutes a day. Within a quarter, the bakery would have a review base, an email list in the hundreds, a content rhythm, and a partnership — a marketing system, built from nothing but consistency.
